The Widow Harun
Great Rift Department of Reclamation
Dwarves are very lawful (read: bureaucratic) by nature. The Department of Reclamation is the name given by the Dwarves of The Great Rift to the government section in charge of overseeing their ongoing ‘reconquest’ of the huge areas of the Underdark that they were granted by their treaty with Jebe Khan in 1380. The Department is responsible for operating military campaigns and supporting them with all necessary logistics, as well as the political and economic reorganization of the conquered territories with a view to their eventual absorption into the Dwarven empire. The war has been going on for almost half a century now, and among the Dwarves of The Great Rift it has become the most popular outlet for the disaffected, the misfits, or the just plain bored among them to get a little excitement. Since the Department is often called the ‘D.O.R.’, this has led to a popular expression used on complainers: ‘If you don’t like it, pal, there’s the DOR’. This is of course not funny, and the Dwarves know this.
A subsection within the Department of Reclamation, called the Office of Contractor Relations, deals exclusively with adventurers.
